Love, Dad believes that children, families, and communities will thrive when all fathers have the support they need to create enduring bonds with their children. Through direct service, research, and training, Love, Dad advocates for policies and practices that promote work with fathers as an expected and integrated part of engaging developing families. We offer presentations, training, and consultation to help programs working with families with young children reframe their principles and practices to work effectively with those individuals primarily in the lives of the children they serve.

Voices of Warriors

When we experience trauma, our sense of self and how we perceive the world around us becomes hijacked. Many women who have faced traumatic events feel the need to 'keep the secret,' thus compounding their pain with isolation, dissociation, hypervigilance, and shame. Trauma survivors can even think they are 'bad' and do not deserve a happy, healthy life. Sharing a traumatic experience with others can restore a sense of connectedness, meaning, and understanding. Group psychotherapy aims to provide this kind of corrective emotional experience in which the dynamics of self-blaming, silencing, and disbelief of the victim are shared and then worked through. At Providence TrinityCare we understand the grief process and we know that healing takes time. We offer support to those in the community who have suffered the death of a loved one from any cause. Our experienced bereavement counselors are here to walk alongside you during this journey and provide support.

The loss of a loved one can present us with one of the most profound challenges we face in a lifetime. Grief is a necessary healing passage, and emotional and physical transition for which we can never truly completely prepare. It is a process which is unique, personal and complex.

For all of the uncertainty, one thing holds true; people must experience their grief in their own way and in their own time.

Project Fatherhood

(562) 437-7706

Since 2010 we have been meeting for a unique, court recognized parenting support group that focuses on helping fathers become more productive and happy in their roles as dads. Interestingly, the model includes the children and significant others too!

Project Fatherhood was developed by Dr. Hershel Swinger of Children’s Institute, Inc. to give poor, urban, culturally diverse fathers an opportunity to connect with their children and play a meaningful role in their lives. The program continues to be recognized nationally for effectively addressing the problem of absentee fathers, a major social issue affecting the healthy development of a significant number of children. The program provides comprehensive parenting skills to culturally diverse biological fathers using an innovative support group model. Over the years, Project Fatherhood has also proved to be effective for other men in care giving roles such as stepfathers and foster parents, and relative caregivers such as grandfathers. Since its inception more than a decade ago, more than 7,000 fathers have participated in the program and the numbers continue to grow.

A key component of the project is its intensive training approach that prepares professionals to lead "Men in Relationships" support groups. During the program, a broad range of issues is addressed including father’s understanding of appropriate discipline, domestic abuse, communicating needs, and traumatic experiences in fathers’ backgrounds that affect their relationships with their children and partners.

Our mission is to decrease isolation at any stage of motherhood and create a network in which expectant mothers, new mothers, those who have experienced maternal loss, and mothers, in general, can receive support through this multifaceted phase of life while strengthening their family along the way. Tara Farajian is a professional and a mother who has created a network within her practice to support mothers during the many Transitions in Motherhood. The private practice created by the late Emma Santizo and Tara Farajian transitioned into a non-profit. The practice is linked with other providers that support families with an infant to school-aged children and beyond. Our goal is that each mother will have all the resources they need at their fingertips
